Congenital heart disease is a type of defect or malformation in one or more structures of the heart or blood vessels that occurs before birth. These defects occur while the fetus is developing in the uterus and affect 8-10 out of every 1,000 children. My son was born with CHD (Congenital Heart Disease) 16 years ago

At the age of (3) three days old my son was admitted into Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where he spent the next (3) three months fighting for his life. He was diagnosed with Atrial septal defect (ASD), Incomplete Atrioventricular canal, Coarctation of the aorta and Pulmonary Stenosis/Hypertension. The prognosis for him was poor and his survival rate was low. However with the help of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), their facility and most importantly their wonderful staff of doctors, surgeons, nurses and skills, my son is a 16 year old young man with a bright, active and full future.
